Eco-Museum – This is the space that has been provided to preserve various ecological resources as well as ecological learning for students and the general public. The indoor space is divided into the exhibition room, exhibit room, screening room, ecological classroom, and seminar room. Additionally, outdoor facilities are nearby a mud flat experiential space so students.
Sounds of nature experience center – The sound of nature experience center of Suncheon Bay is the nation’s only sounds of nature experience center where various natural sounds heard in Sucheon Bay, a land full of life, can be heard. In addition to sounds of various migratory birds that come to Suncheon Bay, many other sounds such as those of reeds fluttering with the wind, beautiful sound of nature heard through the water of a brook, and animals which inhabit around the Suncheon Bay area. Besides the experience center, additional facilities have been installed such as the sound benches or kioks around Suncheon Bay so visitors can be accompanied by sounds of nature during their trip.
Reed deck – a 1.2km long reed deck which makes you feel as if you are flying around the reed field. When Mujinkyo of Daedae dock, the literary background of 「Mujin trip」is passed, then a reed deck which stretches out for 1.2 km and provides the feeling of as if one is flying around the reed field, can be experienced. It is a ecological experience site in a nearby mud flat where animals like sand crab, Japanese ghost crab, sea crab, and mudskipper can be seen.
Yongsan observatory – The S shaped waterway, the representative landscape of Suncheon Bay, can be seen from the Yongsan observatory. When Mujinkyo is crossed from Daedae dock and the reed pathway is followed, then it leads to a road towards Yongsan. The mountain range resembles the image of a lying dragon and there are multiple mountain ridges. Once the Yongsan observatory, where the mud flat of Suncheon Bay can be seen at a glance, is reached, then one can view all the fields and mountains, reed field, and mud flat. When it is high tide, then sights of water birds gathering around in the highest part of the mud flat which remained dry in order to wait for the water to subside can be seen. Small snipes move around here and there due to the sloshing waves, and ducks take the wavering waves as their lullaby and wait for the appropriate timing. Once it is low tide, they follow the resigning ocean water and fly away as if they are slipping into the mud flat. When walking through a path through the Yongsan pine tree wood, small birds can be encountered. These birds include groups of Korean crow-tit which are continuously crying loudly and great tit and long-tailed tit which search for food on top of pine tree branches, wood peckers which climb up trees, and redstart and nightingale which sit on top of high branches proudly present their tones through singing. They are all smaller in size compared to water birds living in the open mud flat, but their lovely feather colors and singing tones add another sense of pleasure while walking through the paths in the woods.
느낀 점 : To get to Sunchun Bay, it takes 40 minutes by bus and you have to walk a bit more to arrive at observatory. Sunchun Bay has lots of distinct attractions. Firstly, it has astronomical observatory that you can directly see it at the entrance. Since the nature there has been perfectly preserved, you can see lots of stars that look like gushing out of the sky. Unluckily, I wasn’t able to stay into the night which was such a shame for me. On the other hand, I saw the third attractive thing which are the endless reeds and the most attractive thing that is an evening glow could be seen from Yongsan observatory which is located in the top of the mountain. The sun over there looked larger and became a ruddy sky. I was extremely impressed by an incredible view there and I felt like I want to stay forever there. A clear view, a clean air and wind made me feel free and tonnes of migratory bird made me feel much more relaxed. Sunchun Bay has a different beauty during each season and I think I will visit there a lot from now on.
