문화재 취재내용 :
Jebudo is an island in South Korea, located in Jebu-ri, Seosin-myeon, Hwaseong- si, Keonggi-do. It is connected to Songgyo-ri, Seosin-myeon, Hwaseong-si, Keonggi-do by a two-lane road, but it is impassable twice a day for three to four hours, due to the high tide. “Jebudo Beach” which is located in southern Jebudo is renowned as a summer vacation destination. It is also popular among tourists as it is close to Seoul and Incheon.
Jebudo roughly forms an inverted triangle and the edge of the southwest coast stretches away into the sea like the tail of swallow. The relatively flat coastline contains many large mud flats. While the mainland is dominated by agricultural activities, the coastline has been mainly developed for tourism.
From Jebudo Island you can witness the parting of sea. The 2.3-kilometer stretch of water between Jebudo Island and Songgyo-ri, Seosin-myeon, parts twice a day during the low tide, and is where the sea parts most frequently in Korea. The exposed foreshore, which remains accessible for six hours until it is submerged by the tide, appears at a different time each day. Just roughly 20 years ago, the people of Jebudo Island would wade across the route, often getting soaked up to their waist, to reach the mainland. However, after cement pavement was installed in the late 1980’s, the route became quickly and easily accessible by car. Though Jebu Island is small there are some notable sights to see, like the Maebawi (falcon rock) that serves as roost for local falcons, and a 2.5 km beach that is dotted with clamshells.
느낀 점 :
Jebudo is an island and you can enjoy some interesting events there. There are two good places on the island for a summer vacation,
One place is on the western shore. You can enjoy swimming there. The other is the southern part of the island. We can catch shellfish, crbs, and oysters there. I also went to here so I catched many oysters there. It was very delicious.
Another good place is a port on the northern coast. It has a small fish market. You can have raw fish at a restaurant on the coast.
The tide is out at a different time every day. We should remember the time of the tides and we can enjoy walking from the mainland to he island.
